As a municipal company, we have a responsibility towards the people and the region in which we operate. Our venues provide cultural, social and economic benefits and serve as places for people to meet and exchange ideas.
At the same time, we are aware that our activities have an impact on the environment and society. We therefore take environmental and social aspects into account in our operational decisions. These include, in particular, the use of resources and energy, as well as issues relating to mobility, procurement and waste prevention.
As a network participant, we are actively involved in the City of Braunschweig’s Climate Protection Network. In line with the amended Federal Climate Change Act, the City of Braunschweig is not only contributing to climate protection but, as a city of science and research, also aims to be a pioneer and role model for other cities and municipalities in this field. Its stated goal is to achieve climate neutrality by 2030, if possible.
This climate protection target has significant implications for the entire urban community and, in particular, for the network’s key stakeholders. The network’s task is to jointly identify opportunities for action and develop communication approaches and strategies. The clear message is that no one can tackle this challenge of the century alone – efforts and resources need to be combined.
In addition, we are a signatory to the Charta der Vielfalt and support diversity in the workplace and society.

The Stadthalle Braunschweig, our listed building at St. Leonhard, is currently undergoing a sustainable renovation. Among other measures, renewable energy solutions are being planned for its future operation. For example, photovoltaic systems are to be installed on currently unused roof areas of the Stadthalle.
The reopening is scheduled for 2028. The social media channels of Struktur-Förderung Braunschweig’s building construction division, “Wir schaffen Räume”, provide regular updates on the progress of the Stadthalle Braunschweig renovation.
